Throttle knob removal?

Seems like a silly question, but i tried to remove the throttle knob in my 1995 hydrodyne but I dont see how it comes off, the knob is and always was a tiny bit loose but it will not turn ccw to come off, i put as much torque on it as I felt comfortable but it wont unscrew? There is no lock nut on the bottom either, any idea's

P.s. If you dont know the hydrodyne boats they are very similar to a correct craft, supra ect

Has to unscrew. Someone may have put some epoxy in there at some point.

Is there a set screw on there anywhere?

Not on mine. Just unscrewed.

I am heading to the lake later today I will check, i was concerned it may be attached to the gear de-Select mechanism just below the knob
