I have noticed my steering was tighter than normal but planned on sticking it out for the rest of the year until yesterday when the Back Mount Rack system by Teleflex inc cracked. This left me with zero turning capabilities and I wanted to get some advice from the community. I am going to attach some pictures. Thanks for the help in advance.

You need to replace it . It can be welded but when it comes to steering I would just replace it

Cable as well or just the part that I show in the picture? Prior to the break my steering was a bit hard to handle.

Pull the cable out , is that a steering rack ? Take more pics overall

Yes it is the steering rack located in the back of my dash. I would be happy to take more pictures. What are you trying to analyze? Are you wanting to see where the steering rack is in a picture that is zoomed out more?

I would say disconnect the cable from the steering wheel, then turn the rudder by hand at the back,
If that is still easy to turn your issue may have been the part that broke.
If it isn't still difficult to turn, then replace both...

The part that's broke it the steering column outter housing , the culprit was probably the cable binding when turning , teleflex offers that same style for around 160.00 for column / helm and cable . Remove and measure cable from end of black sleeve to end of black sleeve and add a foot . That's the size you need .

Yuck. 2008 already stuck/broken? Was this used in brackish water?

Just an update, I ordered a new steering cable and helm. Both parts cost about $270.00. Now I got to get them on to see if I fixed the problem.

Yikes, where'd you buy it from? Skidim told me the 20's used a 20ft cable. Is that what you bought?

Yes. I bought a 20 ft cable and a steering helm for 270 total. Instead of doing it myself I took it in to a shop and got it done because I dont have a lot of time with work and I was about to have a lot of family down and had the next 4 days off. The shop fixed it in a timely manor and my steering is perfect! so easy, like cutting through butter. I hope to keep it that way. If anyone has maintenance advice, please chime in!
