Changing from the stock swim platform to the new style surf platform made a huge difference in my wake.
The wake is now much longer and cleaner with less ballast.
The first picture is with Old swim platform Port side and center ballast tanks full with 15 people on the boat

Second picture is with new surf platform one driver and tanks full

Wow, what a difference, can you post pics of your new platform as I am in the process of making a new one that is smaller than the 04 original and has a smooth underside with no grab rail.

14935I didn't measure the new platform but is the exact platform that comes on the brand-new Supras. I'll get some measurements on it over the weekend.

Thanks Brian, I have pretty much designed a similar shape but measurements would still be appreciated. Ill add pics to my thread once I've completed it.

My boat has 3 swim platform brackets, so this is what I did for https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Lx6MWKplpmQ/UkSBHJN-ThI/AAAAAAAAPDI/TyhK_7FWf3c/s800/Platform%2520Dimensions.jpg

How did you come across a new style platform? Can't be cheap if bought new. Yes I agree the big platform with handles has its benefits but you can watch foam up/disturb the wave. My next mod definitely.

I ordered the platform from supra. The platform is $582.45. But by the time you add the stainless steel rub rail the See deck surface and shipping it's $1,040.99
But here is the dimensions for those guys that want to try make their own.

Great info, Brian. Thanks for sharing. Nice install methodology - I see you were going for an advanced comfort/high difficulty rating!

It's pretty interesting to see all of the variables that factor into creating a really great wave. And really cool to see all of the problem-solvers trying different methods to optimize!

I've been kicking around the idea of skinning the bottom of my stock platform to diminish some of the turbulence. Even with mine running flat while surfing the platform is in the water and I don't thing the newer designs would keep it out and I would have to redesign the gates again. Removing the rub rail would help but we use it to much. Maybe removing the sides of it and just leaving the rear area.

I ordered my new surf platform yesterday to replace the stock platform. I hope it's here in time for Christmas :)

It took awhile to get here, but my new surf platform arrived a couple of weeks ago. It doesn't appears to have predrilled holes. I am a newbie and my boat isn't near me at the moment. Any thoughts as to why it comes this way?
Any suggestions on how to proceed. I figured I'd ask before I make some dumb mistake :)

Not sure but there could be more than one platform bracket. either way just use stainless screws when you attach it and pre drill the holes.

Did you have any issues with the new deck lining up or was it a direct fit? I think I might go this route.

It looks like it's going to be a direct fit! I'll post some pictures in a couple of weeks. The boat comes out of storage and home to the newly remodeled garage the weekend of the 15th.

Did you order it directly from Supra? Could you give me an idea of what it might cost? Im going to be installing the gosurfassist surf tabs and Im thinking if I went to this new platform it would really compliment the surf tabs. Thanks for the help.

Hey Baberger....Did you ever get your new swim platform installed and if so do you have any pics of it? I am going to be giving Supra a call to order one today. Thanks.

Anyone know the cost to make a new swim platform out of teak vs. oem?

Could also build something really nice out of trex

Brian,
I noticed your surf-swim platform is obviously 30" wide. How much does the front side curve? (the side that butts next to the boat?) You think an inch? More or less? I am laser cutting mine out of HDPE to your specifications. Thank you!

old reply to the topic but, trex is what i ended up using and i'm happy with it. takes the pain out of having to seal a wood/teak deck and is easy to work with.

I 2nd that. I know some boaters use teak to give a 'classic look'. I assume you used one of the brown colors with the wood grain look. My last deck project was years ago and they did not have so many different options to choose.
