Posting for Freshturk as he no longer has posting privileges her and has not been able to get ahold of a Mod.

http://www.moomba.com/msgboard/showthread.php?25165-Supra-Pro-Edge-Tower-speaker-mounts-for-ws-exile-and-kicker-Potential-group-buy&p=253714#post253714

We are going to be removing the OEM pods on his new Supra in order to install his Rev-8's that hung on his previous Moomba. We are in the process of having custom aluminum pod adopters fabricated, that will allow for aftermarket pods to be mounted in the OEM Pro Edge upper and lower locations.

They will not be polished or power coated. I will work on those options deeper into winter, or work on that per request, if no one is in a super big hurry for their brackets.

We are working on adapters for both the upper and lower OEM locations.

If Fresh-T can get his posting restored, i'll let him fallow with cost and ordering details. if not, I will post that later. Right now, we are testing the waters for interest. We will at least be doing one pair of uppers for his boat. Direct any questions regarding the mounts, to me.

Speaker pod options:

Direct mount to the Kicker KMTE-S

Wet Sounds X-Mount pods

Wet Sounds Pods with TC3-S swivel clamp

Exile pods with swivel clamp

Once there is an approximate number to be made, I can then get an ETA on fabrication.

Shipping will be USPS Regional-A box, so it should not be more than $10.00, just to give you an idea of your all-in.

Update from Freshturk in the Moomba thread

Alright, pricing is as follows:

Upper mounts: $150/pair
Lower mounts: $160/pair

This is a good deal because chances are if you go to your own installer, youre going to have to pony up the cost of the initial fab work. This way were doing it for you.

For orders please either PM me or email me at [email protected]

These are probably going into full production by the end of the week, for those that are interested. Also working on getting a quote for powder coating. I will probably only have a few extra pairs done for in-house use, so if you are interested, let me know.

FYI for FreshTurk, Michael ...

The moderator page says that the site is waiting for FreshTurk to respond to a confirmation email - that would grant him final access to this site to be able to write.
I don't have the privileges to overwrite this part. If he can find the email and respond to it (it may have expired) - then he would have access to write here.

He is a user on this site, and is not banned - but must respond to the email from this forum to be able to do so.

The prototype base plates have been test-fit, so we are ready to go to production. I am also looking into having the blank lower base plate done that will allow the lower factory speakers to be removed when only a single pair of aftermarket speakers will be used. These blanks would cover the cavity left by the removed lower OEM speakers.

What is different about these compared with the plates you can get from Supra? They also come on the tower when you delete the speakers from the factory.

I am not familiar with what Supra supplies with the tower when tower speakers are not ordered. What I am doing, is designing and building a universal tower pod adapter that will fit the OEM speaker mounting location, allowing the owner to use a speaker other than the OEM offering pictured earlier in this thread. What you see posted by me, is just the test fitting on the prototype base. This was just to insure that we had the shape and size of the mounting plate and the bolt hole placement correct, prior to machining a final and complete production unit.

As an additional offering, I am going to make a blank base plate for the lower OEM positions. This would be for those owners that want to go with only a single pair of tower speakers in the upper locations, while removing 2 pair of OEM pods. I hope that explains it a little better.

Ok I gotcha.

FYI: this is what you can get directly from supra and what comes on the tower when you delete the speakers.

When we did my tower speakers, we just attached the Rev10 swivel mounts to those. I'm looking forward to seeing your finished product!

I have test fit a working prototype for the lower and upper spots. I am making a couple minor adjustments to the final production run and these will be available. Again, these will work with the Wet Sounds TC3-S clamps and X-Mount pods, Kicker KMTS pods, Exile pods and possible others.

Update:

We got Freshturk's boat completed. I am really happy with the outcome of the custom mounts, although the lighting in the pics is horrible.

http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x101/chpthril/chpthril079/PB200201_zps7b868472.jpg (http://s181.photobucket.com/user/chpthril/media/chpthril079/PB200201_zps7b868472.jpg.html)

While we were in there installing his Wet Sounds Rev-8's on the custom fab'd adapters, we pulled out the factory tower amp to make room for his SD-2. To bring it all together, we installed his WS-420 in the under dash mount. Re-tuning the in-boat/sub amp made a huge difference. I was pleased to see Skiers Choice install the woofer in a sealed enclosure. I did detect a couple of small leaks though, but way better then running it IB. Seems to be room to do a larger sealed or small ported enclosure with no loss of leg room. For a further improvement, the OEM amp is capable 400W rms to a 2 ohm sub, where as the factory sub is only 4 ohm, thus receiving only 200W.

For those that do upgrade the tower amp wattage, you will find that the tower is wired with 14ga speaker wire, and wired for LEDs, but the boat side of the tower harness is only 16ga. We pulled that stretch out and upgraded it to 12ga.

We upgraded the 4ga cabling from the switch C post to BUS to 1/0. The factory 8ga to the tower amp was replaced with 4ga. The amp's GND runs direct to battery, bypassing the GND BUS.

Michael, Where did you get that "faceplate" for the equalizer?

Wylietunes
11-25-2014, 08:45 PM
tg,

Its the Wet Sounds bullet alum WS-420SQ Under-Dash surface mount. Holds the SQ and a BTVC and comes in black or silver. They also offer the flush-mount face plate, but it fits the SQ only and does not have a spot for the BTVC.

I'm sorry to drag this post back up but was wondering what everyone is now doing if they want to switch from the OME Polk speakers on the Roswell Pro Edge tower to something different. I see that JL has some adapters but they don't seem to rotate. Thanks

@Anderson,

I do not know of swivel Edge option from JL, so it would be worth a call them just to be sure.

Have you looked into the Wet Sounds Icon-8? It can be outfitted with a swivel disconnect clamp. You also have the option if going with speaker LEDs, with all wires hidden and you still retain the swivel disconnect feature.

The swivel disconnects work nice.

My speakers sit in the house when they are not on he boat.

You can order new insert plates ( no holes or brackets attached) from Skiers choice and add your favorite brand that supports a swivel application. The JL 8.8” cans do not have a swivel option.

@Anderson,

You do not need to source un-drilled un-tapped blanks from skiers choice. The ones pictured in this thread are drilled and tapped to fit the popular speaker pod options.

Anderson

So I assume I just go through my dealer who will order the plates via skiers choice. The plates will be just a flat plate? And I'll have to buy mounts for whatever speakers I go with? JL has upper and lower at $200 per set. That seems on the high side. I like the Roswell R-1 speakers but don't know how I would mount them in the stock upper and lower location. Everything seems to want to hang on tower pole. I'm sure there is an easy answer to this so I apologize. New to wake boats. Thanks

@Anderson,

As noted, you can source the Edge blank plates through your Surpa dealer. Or, if you refer to this very thread, there are some custom aftermarket options.

Have you contacted JL to see about a swivel mount option that will work with their pro edge plates?

The Wet Sounds X-Mount and TC3-S pods will bolt right up the plates shown in this thread. These plates are in stock.

Roswell offers an adapter for thier pods, that seems to have the common direct-mount bolt patter. So they should bolt right to the plates shown in this thread. You may get lucky, and be able to source all of this through one location.

You can, I have a pair of each in stock, as well as a pair of lower "blanks" if one was just going with a pair of upper speakers and deleting the factory lower.

page #2 has the best picks I have as this moment. I could take a couple picks on Monday, but they would be of the plates just setting on my bench.

We have updated the design to now accommodate the new Kicker KMFC9 and KMFC11 Surface-mount HLCDs. https://www.kicker.com/kmfc-11-inch-coaxial-tower-system . Uppers are done, lowers are in production.
