Can anyone use this before I put it on ebay? It's a Sherwood 0601 from a 5.8l Pro Boss GT-40. Mechanics F'd up and hit me for a new one, $600 down the drain for parts and labor and it wasn't even the problem. If I can get $250 out of it, I'm fine and I'll take care of the shipping cost. It works just fine. Just let me know.152351523615237

What was the real problem?

Head gasket. Went ahead and had a performance shop do a top end job on it. Runs
Like a top now.

Where were you earlier this week? I ordered a new one on Monday and it already arrived. If Hunter or nobody else takes it, I might take it just to have a spare.

Why did you order a new one? These can be rebuilt for $120.

I didn't, that's what they suggested, we don't have many marine mechanics here and everyone said the guy was a good mechanic. This is first inboard. I tried to tell the guy that I wanted my money back because he didn't fix the problem. Luckily my brother in law runs a performance shop and told helped me out. Just had to take it to his shop....3 1/2 hours away.

This one is beyond a rebuild. The previous owner did not do me any favors with it. I was lucky to get the number of seasons I got out of it. The housing never got tight to seal because only one bolt had enough thread to actually grab anything. The other two were for show.
