The seating area on the sides of the engine and whatever is under the swim deck (ballast????) is SO WEIRD!

I believe when American skier went away they tried making some under Elan without any success of course. Yes that is ballast under the swim platform, I remember when wake boarding and ballast was just getting popular this was an idea tried out. Volante was a model for American Skier which it has stamped on the capacities tag.
