Hi guys. Hoping you can help. Boat has been running great since the engine rebuild but i took it out today for a run after carby rebuild and after 20 minutes i pulled up the took off again. At about 2000 rpm the clutch or gearbox slipped (revved but shaft was disengaged) and engine revved but wasnt going anywhere. It took off ok but as it started to get on plane it slipped. Then it did the same thing the next 4 times i tried to take off at varying speeds/load. I could get it up on plane if i gradually built up the speed but if i tried to boot it it would slip/disengage. Put into neutral then it would engage again. So it is load related.
Any help PLEASE.
Thanks guys.
:( :frustrated

Tranny needs a rebuild. The ceramic discs are worn

Get a tranny rebuild kit. Comes with all the discs, seals and gaskets. Call skidim.

STOP!
Check the fluid first.
Low fluid prevents the clutches from engaging. Happens to me a couple of times per season (there's a leaky seal somewhere.) Top it off with fluid and you're good to go again.

Well I was assuming he checked the fluid first

Yes i have checked the levels. In fact i drained the transmission when i had the engibe out last month and put new fluid in. Thanks though.

Was probably happy with the old fluid and now it has new fluid it didnt like it. I hope dexron 1, 2, 3 compatible fluid is ok?

I'm guessing your friction plates are worn out. Going to need to be rebuilt. I did a thread on here on how to rebuild them. The Borg Tranny is similar to mine. So the steps should be about the same.

Thanks guys. I rebuilt it on the weekend and was fairly straightforward. Had a few bolts that were a little stubborn but all done. Took it for a quick run on the weekend and it worked beautifully.
Thanks for the help guys.
