I need some pictures of a PCM 454 front shot, like of the Impeller housing bracket and alternator bracket where they mount to the engine. I bought an 1987 Saltare and the engine was partially taken apart when I bought it and need to put back together.

That would be great. Never can have to many pictures when your engine was already apart and bolts in a coffee can.

Thanks. I need where the oil sender and temp sender go please.

Oil pressure sender is on the block above the oil pan on the passenger side.

Temp sender is in the intake manifold.

90% sure on those -- boat is still in storage. ;)

Have the exhaust manifolds, fuel pump and distributor left to install.

Looking good. Get some help with those manifolds - they're heavy!

What size wood did you you use for your engine cover base?

I want to say 2x8 and cut them down in height a bit to match original which were something like 6" or 6.5". 2x6 would be too short and air cleaner would hit the doghouse. Original I think was a true 1" thick so I went with 2x instead of 1x... It's a little tight to the manifolds but I felt 1x would be a bit thin or weak at the joints but may well have worked fine.

So, I finally got my engine and all of the components installed. Tried to start it today but acts like no spark. Now I have something to track down tomorrow. Guess that is part of the fun of buying a boat in pieces.

I got it running today! Timing was 180* off, check valve at fuel was clogged and had to replace the points with a Pertronix kit to get some spark.

Are you talking about WOT? Should be between 4400 - 4600.

leetudor

OOPPPSS, Yes WOT. I was out Tuesday and only went to 4200 RPMs. Might go further today.

I can run up to ~5200 rpms but it doesn't seem to make much more power after 4700.

Water traffic and families plan did not allow me to try this weekend.

Once I got my timing and fuel mixtures right I can get 4600 rpm. Before that it was 3500 when timing was out and then mostly right was getting 4200. So fine tuning and you should get a little better and about 45mph at wot.

Mine is very similar. This is with a CNC 13x12 prop and will run about 43 MPH. With original cast 14x13 it would do 49-50 at a bit less RPM.

Took it for a spin today and all I could get was 4250 RPMs and 39.5 mph by my GPS with an 14X13 stock prop. Had just my wife and myself with 1/4 tank of fuel in a calm cove with no wind.
