My pet project.... No tower? No problem!

Well after last year I decided to not put a tower on. But I still want to be able to listen to music while boarding. So here is what I came up with....

After a couple road blocks, I'm back on track and am in the process of finishing up the speaker boxes and working on putting a 12v actuator on it... I will have dual volume control and they will run off their own amp.

Nice! I'd be way too OCD about having two different color speaker boxes though haha. Careful when your driver slows down after you fall. If that things open, it makes a nice pocket for a surge of water to rush into.

Zim, I had the one all but done and the other was primed when I got the struts and I wanted to dry fit them. Well then bastard close perfect...... Without the speaker in... So I mocked them up with the new dimensions of the boxes. And because it worked, I am now in the process of finishing them. So they will both be red by the time it is done!

I just used the piano hinge that was already on the sun deck. When I get the actuator I will take some pics of it. A guy I work with is an expert on struts and stuff so I have 2 struts on the outside and my actuator will be mounted just to the side of on of the boxes. I'm hoping to get it this week so I can play with it this weekend.

Love your decision not to put a tower on as your supra is a classic as it now sits.
Neat concept for the speakers , wouldn't worry too much about water coming over the back as you slow etc.after twenty four years of being a supra owner have had that happen once and only then by an ignorant boater who cruised by with a huge wake within ten feet of the back of my stationary boat. Enjoy the tunes!

Got my actuator in today and got it semi installed. Took a little tweaking but it opens and closes good. I don't have a switch hooked up yet but plan to run 2 switches... one in the help and then a water proof one in place of one of the vents on the transom. I used a 40lb 20" strut on the other side to assist. It opens good even with the Bimini going for a ride. The extra 30 lbs of speaker boxes wont affect it as it is a 225lb strut. Cant wait to get the boxes done and get it all hooked up! Here is a video and some pictures.
