Our 2007 Sunsport 24SSV has the complete Kenwood factory system still installed (headunit, 6 "cabin" speakers, 4 tower speakers, subwoofer, amplifier and transom remote). Recently the KTS-MP400MR stopped playing any CDs and recognizing the iPod cable. We are taking the opportunity to replace the headunit with a Kenwood KMR-M312BT and a new transom remote.

While working on the headunit we are trying to figure out an issue we've been having where the subwoffer and tower speakers cut out, presumably from too much load (happens with high volume or bass). On the back of the KTS-MP400MR head unit is a subwoofer preout as well as two RCA female pre-wired plugs labeled "Front" and "Rear". There are 2 RCA cables running from the stereo to the Kenwood KAC-8402 amplifier. On the amplifier side, there are two sets of speaker wires wired bridged on channel A running up to the 4 tower speakers. There are two sets of speaker wires wired stereo to the subwoofer. Here's where I'm confused: with the subwoffer RCA cable unplugged from the headunit pre-out, why is the subwoofer still playing? We hoped unplugging the subwoofer would correct our overload issues? Is the amplifier wired incorrectly? Does a setting on the amplifier need to be adjusted? Thanks for your help!

There is an INPUT SELECTOR SWITCH (#13 on page 5 of the amp manual). it's obviously set to A. you would want it set to B if you want the amp to use both of the inputs separately.

Thank you, trayson! I'll check that setting this evening!
