Maiden voyage for my boat after a full cap off restoration this winter...plenty of work left to do but she's usable at this time so that's what counts! Glad to have it on the lake.

Warming her up before an oil change:

Tied up at the cottage:

Sophie enjoying the new digs:

Another shot of her tied up at the cottage. Behind my boat are the family skiff and my brothers Hydrostream that clicks along at about 83 mph. Fun boat for sure.

Here is a quick video of my first trip across the bay. Sorry for the poor quality, just uploaded this from my iphone and I am hoping this turns out ok.

Do you use any kind of fenders to cushion your boat against those pilings? Or do you just let the rub rail bang on the wood. I couldn't do that to my boat w/o some kind of cushioning.

We've never used bumpers on our boats, but none of them are usually the type of boat to require them haha. I actually have a set of whips to keep the boat off of the wall completely, but our weather was so bad this weekend I didn't have time to get them out. Aside from that, there is very little wave activity there anyway so the boats never bang off of the pilings, its pretty rare to see. Unfortunately the rub rail on that side of the boat was pretty beat up from the previous owner.

Water was about 20ft high here! Crazy.

I prefer to tie up where pilings or poles are tall enough that the rub rail does its job. Prefer a beat up rub rail over needing to polish gel often. As long as you're not getting huge rollers from open water I'd imagine it's no big deal. Just replace rub rail when required, it's a sacrificial part?

Agreed! If it wasn't already beat up, I'd run bumpers for sure.

I'm way too OCD for that stuff. To each their own, but just because something is beat up doesn't mean you shouldn't care about it. Sure the rub rail is there to protect the boat, but why not give it a little cushion? I'd rather use a couple of these than spend the time and money replacing a rub rail every few years.

I never said I do not care about it. A wood piling is very safe, especially compared to steel pilings that are very common in our area. There is very little wave action and traffic where the boat is parked so it was fine for the 30 min it was tied up. As I said before, I also have whips for the boat that will be set out this weekend, which are far more effective than bumpers. I just did not have an opportunity to put them out over the weekend since it rained for 36+ hours with insane winds. Our weather this year has been total garbage. Whips will be out on Friday morning and she will be safe and sound from here on out.

I would like to replace the rubrail, but unfortunately everything I find only comes in 20 foot sections and I want to do the insert of the rub rail in once piece, as it is from the factory. Having seams looks terrible.

Happy boating to all!

Why use the Syn4 and the P900.4? Just get two P900.4s! I love my PPI Phantom amps.....

I was initially going to just use the PPI, but got such a good deal on the Syn4 from Odin over at Earmark that I just went with it. Going to put the PPI on my cabin speakers instead. I've heard good things about the PPI, and even better things about the Syn4.

Also have a WS420SQ and JL bluetooth dongle on the way.

Me too. Excuse the exposed wiring I was in a hurry to get my boat back on the water, and I've already got plenty of crap about that.

Must have been quite the good deal, because even at 20% off or more, the WS would be double the price of what you can get a P900.4 for!

It wasn't just about price for me, but yes, he put together a package I couldn't refuse. I'm sure the PPI would work fine, but the added benefits of having a product built for the marine environment, with better components, a crossover system that is clearly marked, the wetsounds service/warranty behind the products, and the service I received from Earmark in the decision... i couldn't refuse. I've read multiple posts of people losing channels from a PPI amp, or having the amp stop working entirely and needing to be replaced. That's obviously not the norm, but I've not read a single post like that about the wetsounds products.

Again, not just about price. I've put the best possible tower speakers I can buy on my boat. I want the cleanest, most efficient, and most accurately tuned amplifier powering them. The Syn 4 is that amp for me (and what I wanted originally), and with the package Odin gave me I couldn't turn it down.

Makese sense. Can't argue with that logic. Sometimes you just gotta pay to play.

I know June's over, and I don't do very much pic-whoring over here any more, but I'll throw up a couple highlights since it's been an amazing month of boating.

Saw a crazy Navy Seal boat getting launched. They build them just up the river from us.

Had some tieup fun in the party cove in downtown Portland

Participated in Wake The World, NW Oregon and got to take a very nice foster kid family out on our boat.

Having a blast wakeboarding with the new board/bindings behind the new boat:

We traded in the Ridgeline and the wife now has a new truck that's everything we wanted:
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-MJrTQAtFTNA/VYR2hU3sFkI/AAAAAAAAZbE/3mPQ0ZaGsS0/s800/20150619_121726.jpg
(she's only 5'2" but the truck makes her look tiny!)

We took a "stay-cation" and had the boat on the water 8 out of the 9 days with amazing weather every day. On the last day before going back to work, it finally clicked for my wife and she got a 3 minute line ride surfing. This is HUGE as she's had a childhood fear of open water and had ACL reconstruction last year. Victory shot:
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-8C5Zj3vpuRQ/VZBSXuvJGNI/AAAAAAAAZhg/631vfwToLfw/s800/Cindy%252520Surf.jpg

Likewise my son went from telling me the last 2 seasons that "watersports aren't his thing" to letting me know he was down to try surfing. He's showing promise, but struggled with the wife's 4'8 Ronix Caption, so I threw down and got him his own board, a Phase 5 Scamp:

June was definitely our month!
