Swim Platform Residue tracking into the boat

I'm sure this has been posted before...but I have the issue where my boat is having the black residue from the swim platform follow people's feet into the boat.

I've heard of different things, but was looking for a good answer to resolve it.

Sounds to me like the boat is running rich and the black _hit tracking into the boat is carbon -- Give'r a Tunup!

I've heard of people removing (scraping off) the black pads and applying a product called gator grip. I'm not really familiar with it though.

It's not from exhaust, I have the same problem on my boat, and it usually happens when people step their feet onto a wet deck when the deck is out of the water. It's because they are cheap rubber, when I have the deck in the water, it's not a problem, just have your buddies dip their feet in the water before going into the boat.
