pulling the ski pylon - '86 Sunsport

Looking for recommendations on the quickest and most efficient way to pull the ski pylon on my '86 Sunsport. I have a new 'to me' one in better condition I plan to slide in place.

The bracket for the ski pole in one of my boats was really rusty so what I did was remove the whole unit and put it on my milling machine. I cut a slot in the tube on either side and pried it open/off the ski pole. Then I fabricated a new bracket fro 304 stainless.

I don't think there is a easy way to "slide" the ski pole out. They are usually pretty corroded.
