Boat runs good the first few hours, but after letting it sit for awhile it does not want to crank over. Need a new fuel pump? If so where is a good place to buy one? Thanks.

won't crank , or won't fire, if it cranks then it could be vapour lock

It cranks, I've heard about the vapor lock, is there a part to help fix this?

You could fit a fuel cooler on the system. We use them in automotive applications. I am sure there would be a marine alternative somewhere.

I believe there are some people that have added an additional fuel pump. Hopefully someone that has done it will chime in!

Thanks, I hope someone will, tired of getting a $40,000 boat towed by a old bass boat.

pour cool water over the fuel pump , or wrap it with a soaked towel, or open your deck lid on hot days and run your blower when you stop. you want to try and keep the engine bay cool after you have run hot on a hot day,

basically when gas heats up it turns to vapour in the fuel pump, once its vapour in there the pump can't pump , it heats up more and the condition gets worse. once the pump cools the vapour turns back into liquid and your good to go.

+1 on docdrs.

If you are looking for a part, try: http://www.skidim.com/

I had the issue last year 1-2x.
I was going to add the fuel pump if it happened this year, but it has not reared it's ugly head.

I switched to 100% gas only, no ethanol.

I took the boat out again this weekend, ran fine Saturday, Sunday I ran it for about 2 hrs, turned it off for another and blower on for prob a hour. Couldn't get the boat to turn all the way over, put a wet towel on the filter and 1/2" fuel lines and still got nothing. Pulled the fuel line off the filter coming from gas tank, tried to crank if to see if it was pumping any fuel and nothing was coming out. Still think this part will fix the problem? http://www.skidim.com/VAPOR-LOCK-PUMP-KIT/productinfo/49-5137/.
Thanks for all the input

Okay I took it out this weekend, ran all day Saturday with no issues. On sunday ran it pretty hard for 2-3 hours turning it off every now and then to swap out wakeboarders and it started up fine, after the 2-3 hours we turned it off to swim in the water for probably 2 hours, left the blower on for 1 of the 2 hours. Went to turn it over and couldn't get it to start. I put a cold towel on the fuel filter and the fuel hoses and still nothing. I took off the 1/2" hose coming from the fuel tank to fuel filter and try to crank over to see if it was pulling any fuel from the tank and nothing was coming out. Still think the "vapor lock pump" will fix this issue? Thanks for all the input.

I used a Bosch 044 pump in mine. I'm in the process of manufacturing an adapter that will be fitted to the existing pump bracket. It will look very OEM and you can buy a Bosch 044 nearly anywhere, they're cheaper and more reliable. Stay tuned
