My 1984 Supra Rider does not have a spot for transom tie downs. Right now I am using a big ratchet strap over the stern sun deck to the trailer. I would like to add a place on the boat to facilitate easier loading/unloading of the boat. Seems strange there wasn't something from the factory. I am hesistant to drill into the transom, but probably don't have much choice.

Also have a ,I believe, 1976 SMP dual axle trailer. It does not have brakes on it currently. Would like to add them, if needed. I know some states require them on trailers over a certain amount. Have also thought about picking up a newer trailer but not sure on what a good one to get would be.

Adding transom eye hooks isn't that bad. You'll probably will be drilling through the embedded wood so you'll get to check out its integrity. I would make sure to add a backing plate on the inside of the transom and use 4200 or 5200. Luckily my coring was solid so I left it alone. Here's a picture from my rebuild.

My 89 Sunsport has D rings above the swim platform. It came with a long strap that goes over the back and attaches to the sides of the trailer.
