Can someone help me reference the teak oil thread?
I am trying to sort through opinions on oil and prep, but cannot find the link.
Also, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Mastercraft Teamtalk has the most info. Look under Restorations and Refurbishment.

Being a *Yachtie* and own a 42 footer with teak decks, this is a subject i know a fair bit about, so here is my 2 Cents worth.

Firstly, what is the condition of your teak? is it ridged and scored or is it ok, nice and smooth?
That make a big difference to what you do to restore its finish.

So teak should be a straw colour, not grey or green or black :D
If your teak is in fair order but is dirty there are several chemical 2 part cleaners on the market. Here in the UK i use Wessex chemicals 2 part cleaner

Just follow the instructions and the cleaner will bring the teak back to as new condition.

However. If the teak is ridged or worn, you will need to sand it back using 240 grit paper on a DA sander.

Lastly, DO NOT OIL, it will give you a lot of problems, just was with salt water or treat with Wessex chemicals cleaner again. Oil is a real pain in the butt and is only a temporary measure.

The team talk thread has a ton of great info. I tried their mix on my teak table and chairs and a year later it still looks great.
