I had a problem this weekend that I've never had before.... was idling through the no wake zone and the boat sputtered and died. Wouldn't restart. Waited 20m and it restarted and ran like there was no problem..... and then it did it again a few minutes later.

Vapor lock? Has anyone experienced it while the engine was running? It was SUPER hot this weekend so it's the only thing I can think of that would cause it to happen. What's my fix? I'm using an electric fuel pump and an edelbrock carb. Never had an issue like this before.

Sounds like vapor lock. I have an electric fuel pump that had a kink in the wire right at the pump. So...it would work in certain positions. There was no splicing room. I just bought another one. What kind of electric fuel pump do you have?

It's pretty generic looking. I believe it's an airtex (maybe this one? http://www.amazon.com/Airtex-E8251-Universal-Electric-Applications/dp/B0027I88VQ)

I just ordered a Carter that kicks out a little more volume in the hopes that it will help. It's just strange that in 10 years of ownership I've never experienced any vapor-lock or heat-soak issues until this year.

This is the one I ordered and installed. This one pumps a at 4-7 psi and 35 gph. http://shop.mr-gasket.com/air-and-fuel-systems/fuel-pumps/electric-fuel-pump-micro-35-gph-gasoline.html

Do you have in inline see through filter to see the state of your fuel? I just replaced mine because it had a crack in it, but it was under $15. Something like this...

This way you would know for sure.

Where do you find the clear fuel filters? I was looking for one for EFI systems, but couldn't find one locally (they all said carbureted engines only).

I don't think there's one made for fuel injected -- they can't take the pressure required.

I totally overlooked the EFI part! My fault. I'm so busy at work and I try to check out the forums when I get a chance. Sorry about that!
