I am a first time boat owner. Bought a 1986 Supra Comp ts6m for a steal. Boat is in great condition and runs. Problem is the coil overheats and I do not get a spark. Have to wait for coil to cool down. Installed a new Mallory ignition electronic conversion kit. Tried it with the ballast resistor and tried it bypassing the ballast resistor. Same thing happens. I checked the amperage from the alternator it read 12 amps while idling and 14 amps when running. Shuts down after 20 minutes while idling because the coil overheats. Any help would be appreciated.
