These were taken in July, but posted in August - who knows which thread they belong in. Anyway, just a few more from our lake vacation.

Took the In Laws out for a cruise of the Lake, had a good time. Little issue with fuel pump. But all and all a good day. Here's a short vid.

Oooooh, LA-200...I got plenty of time in that type. Should I bring the Comp or that thing next year to the reunion?

I figured you'd know what that was. These people weren't shy about cruising up to this island and throwing out an anchor. I should have asked them about pulling a wakeboarder...

Took a couple of friends and the old salt out for a cruise on the closest body of water to my home - the Kentucky River - Monday night. Not a normal destination for me, but will do in need of a quick fix!

Anyways, here's some pics. Took my buddy out with his new Nikon D810!

Oh yeah, it's "No way that I'd try to turn the boat around at speed" narrow! Also pretty scummy. All-in-all, I won't be back for watersports purposes - but there is a lot of neat stuff to see. The palisades that line the river are pretty spectacular in the fall though. I'm planning a 70 mile fall journey on the KY river from Frankfort, KY to Carrollton, KY - the confluence with the Ohio River, 4 locks involved - in September, so this was a bit of "testing the waters".

Period correct tow vehicle. I'm thinking in addition to the red pinstripe it needs two tone with the center down the sides between the body lines being red to match the boat.

Indeed. I used to ride in a fairly narrow spot. Gave it up and travel farther to open water these days as the areas between no wake were only about 3/4 mile long so you got wore out from all the turnarounds. My buddy rides at an even narrower spot. Nice and long in a valley so it's almost always calm. Turnaround at one end it reasonably wide, the other is pretty tight. Not bad if you have a long enough stretch to ride and not be constantly turning around.

Not quite yet but he is way ahead on muscle strength except his arms, he keeps skipping "arm day." Hopefully he gets over this whole, the water must be 90 degrees or warmer issue as well.

I definitely didn't do it myself! It seems original, although I have never seen another yellow saltare. I have bumped into one yellow comp of the era, so it seems like they had yellow in the catalog back then. I wasn't shopping for a yellow boat (or even anything this big) when I bumped into this thing. Like a fool I went and looked at it, then it followed me home...

Rode with a friend in his boat yesterday, no pics though. Today putzing around wrenching on stuff and trying to get a few things done. Finally started doing some of the teak on the boat. The bow hatch is real bad on the ply part but it is what it is, it'll look a lot better cleaned and oiled. The hinge was all loose and bent and the three frame pieces were loose. Reattached with glue and trim screws along with staples on the back side like factory did. I'll give it a few more coats this week.

Also got a few things in the mail. Plan to put the bus bar under the dash and get full voltage to everything there and eliminate some of the hokey wiring for additional devices. Annoyed the wire I ordered (black) is actually blue, but it'll do for what I need it for.

Congrats! She definitely sounds like a keeper - and it also sounds like you're going to keep her! Way to do it on the water too. My wife and I have always loved the water and I proposed on a lake like you. Boating has always been a part of our marriage and like us, I wish you the best and much boating in your future.

Been taking it to Cesar's Creek, we are on the north side of town. We also have a lake house in northern MI that we took it to last week. Any places you recommend in KY? I love Lake Cumberland, been a few years since I was there though.

Did you pick the color combo to match the 2012? In that case I see that you also subscribe to the belief that it doesn't matter if you're good at it as long as you look good doing it.

We are a little further north, up near Petoskey, on Crooked Lake. Been over to your area a few times through. Sleeping Bear Dunes is one of two places I have seen in the US (aside from Grand Canyon) that truly blew me away when I saw it the first time. Really get spoiled up there with the clean water, and un-crowded lakes.

One suggestion that'd be a real quick and easy mod. Get some Krylon Fusion plastic spray paint and paint the grills of your kicker KM6500.2 mids to black. Especially since you have black cans, I think that blacking out the grills would complete the look. I did that to mine and it looks a TON better.

Had my most challenging night on the boat of the year on Wednesday. The boat had been sitting for the last 12 days and I realized when we went to leave that I had forgot to put the float chargers on the batteries. The main battery was dead. That wouldn't be a huge deal except I'd gotten lazy and wired the WS420SQ directly to the dead battery. so a little troubleshooting, a flip of the perko switch, and a quick re-wire and we not only had a good battery to boat on, but also had music to jam.

The water was SO smooth compared to what it normally is on our river, it was mind blowing. We decided to head out to our "normal spot" which is about a 15 minute ride. On the way, the boat would be going along just fine and then the boat would suddenly cut power and bring the RPM's down to 3000, regardless of where the throttle was. After another round of troubleshooting, we realized that the boat was going into limp mode because the oil pressure was low. Turned out we needed oil. We were on the border of a huge Marina area of the river, so we entered the no wake zone and idled down about 15 minutes only to find out the gas station in the middle of the marina area was closed. We docked up next to another boat that was moored and they gave me their key card to get back into the mooring area and I hiked over to Safeway, which was really close to the marina access. Of course the grocery store didn't have the oil I needed, but they did have the Coors Light that the guys requested for use of their key card.

So I bummed a ride from the guys in the checkout line in front of me at Safeway to West Marine (about 1/2 mile away) and got the oil I needed and a handy funnel. Then I bummed a ride from the guy in the checkout line behind me at West Marine back to the mooring ramp. Gave the boat its much needed oil and we were FINALLY on our way. It was 8pm by the time we were back to water we could play on.

I took a much needed wakeboard set on amazingly smooth water. My buddy took a quick wake set as well. Then we each surfed, well into the night. It was a late one (with the obligitory sh**-show at the launch, but at least we salvaged the night and they didn't have a mutiny and throw my high strung stressed out butt overboard.

Buckeye,

It't not bad. I mean as far as boating in Ohio goes. The ramps are decent, waters fairly cleanish. If you live near Columbus, I would say its very comparable to Alum Creek. If you're on the south side you may go to Deer Creek more, just a guess. I've never been there.

When we go, its usually a Sat. or Sun, and we usually try to splash by 9am and pull out by 1pm, it tends to get pretty crowded after that.

Nice, I ended up painting what little teak I had left black to match my interior, mistake, it has since peeled- and this bow hatch cover somehow managed to shrink up and crack, not saying its due to the black paint- but it was fine for almost 20 years, I rattle can it 4 years ago and it implodes.

So we did a double header. Went out on Wednesday with forecasted temps in the 90's and winds below 5mph. These are the evenings I yearn for! And it delivered.

Seeing that our area is going to get some "much needed rain" (we have record wildfires) this weekend, we had to do an encore night. high of 88 degrees with 4mph winds = recipe for another stellar evening on the water.

And we made the right choice because this weekend we're getting 20-30mph winds with "wind driven rain" and an inch or two of rain. Wow.

Last night We only had three of us, which was fine since that just meant more ride time. Our normal ride spot was basically empty all night. at any given time we were the only boat playing on the water. It was amazing.

Started off with a 2 mile long slalom run. Then did another 2 mile long slalom back the other direction.
Then my friend did the same (but on 2 skis).
Then I wakeboarded a 2 mile run, took a breather in the water and wakeboarded back another 2 miles.
Finished off the evening with around a 1.5 to 2 mile long surf.
My legs were burning but I couldn't get enough of the smooth water. (I've really been going through withdrawls with the windy days we've had recently).

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ghq_1s-bsRc/Vd_oUGAhzDI/AAAAAAAAaHQ/C1IZ-pFNnnY/s800-Ic42/IMG_5914.jpg

When you can see me smiling all the way at the end of the ski rope, you know it's a good night.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-tQYBQn4lz1E/Vd_oQKeuHsI/AAAAAAAAaGo/GTt8jHqYHIg/s800-Ic42/IMG955919.jpg

(also, that's boardshorts and a rash guard. No neoprene needed!!!)

It was even smooth through the main channel of the Columbia River. In contrast to days when there will be 2 foot tall whitecaps that limit the boat to 15mph or less.

Love that smooth water, even if it's just cruising at 30mph back to the launch.
