Was doing a spanner check this evening and noticed the belt to my alternator was a little loose. I grabbed a 1/2" wrench to loosen the bolt that's through the slide bracket, pull the alternator and belt tight then re-tighten. Unfortunately the threaded hole on the alternator is wallowed out. As a quick fix because I was getting on the water tonight I flipped the slide bracket over so now the fixed mount hole is to the alternator top mount. I then replaced the original bolt with a longer bolt and a nylok nut and tightened down the alternator with the belt properly tensioned.

Is there any issue with the 'slide' part of the bracket not being mounted to the alternator? None of the geometry changed and all is snug.

Thanks!

If it spins, it spins!
