Hi All,

Just wondering if an extra ballast bag could be added on top of another ballast bag?

I have enough room to add a smaller bag on top of the current bag, but I'm worried that the weight may pop a seam on the bag under it?

Anyone?

Has anyone done this before? Heard of it done?

Thanks

I have sat on my 550s plenty of times so it seems 175 lbs would be no problem haha.

Maybe it would be a good guess that a bag could handle another 50% of its weight on top?

I've been on a older boat that did this. They did it for years.
They did not have to worry about any hoses that would become disconnected.
They did not have issues with the top-bag forcing water out of the bottom bag.
It was a 'smaller bag' on top of the 'factory ballast bag'.

You could always put lead or weights under the existing bag...

Watch out with too much lead/solid weight. If you swamp the boat, ballast bags become part of the water weight. If you have lead/rock/sandbags they add onto the weight.
