I put this thread in the skiing area as well. My apologies to the Administrator if that's against the Forum rules. Just wondering what prop people are using on Comp TS6M's that are being used for skiing only? Just picked up a 1989 with 45 hours on it. Not a misprint, 45 hours. The boat looks nearly showroom clean. Going to have to do some light buffing on the exterior, but the interior is nearly flawless. Our boating season is done here in Utah, but I want to be ready to hit the water early next Spring, and as this boat will be used only for slalom skiing, I'm wanting to put the best performance prop on that people will recommend.

Thanks for your help.

Assume your engine is a 351 windsor pcm .
What transmission do you have ?
PCM 1 to 1 or is it a PCM 1:23 to 1 reduction.
Are you wanting performance for speed or performance for pull / torque?

This boat has the 1:1 tranny working the the 351 PCM, and I'm looking for the best hole shot. My guess is even with the great hole shot I'm looking for, we'll still be able to see 35+ on the top end. I typically ski between 33-35, but as I drag a foot getting up, it's a whole lot easier if the boat is able to yank me right out of the water.

Hole shot was what I was after as my sons and I are all big guys.
I went to an Acme 422.
12.5 x 15.5. 4 blade with a 1 inch bore which was ideal for a right hand rotation my 1:23 to 1 presents.

My hole shot is immediate and my top end suffered hardly at all as I still get 43-44 mph when pinned. ( seldom do as I baby my boat)
We ski at 36 mph with no issues.
Noticed the smoothness the new prop provided as well.
Extremely pleased.

Thanks for the info. That's exactly what I'm looking for in the way of performance. That 15.5 is quite a bit bigger in diameter than the 13 x 13 that came standard on the boat. You feel like there's plenty of clearance between the prop, and the hull? I've run props with as little as 3/4" on some applications, but that's really cutting it close, and not sure I want to take a chance at burning the gelcoat on this boat. I do like the idea of going to a 4 blade prop, especially for the smoothness it would provide.

The 15.5 is not an issue.
Keep in mind mine is for right hand rotation where yours will be left hand.Talk to thenfolks at Nettles to ensure the correct prop.

Thanks for the info. Now if we can all just survive the months longs wait until we can get back on the water.
