Boat show season is starting. Post some pics of what you like/don't like or something new. It does not have to be a boat.

I'll start it off. Never afraid to post a pic or my opinion. I went today to the Atlanta Boat Show and it was very typical of what I have seen over the last few years...a lot of boats that I cannot afford for one thing. Sky is the limit now if you want the best for wake surfing or boarding.

I believe there is another thread on here perhaps about grilling on the boat and I saw this option on the back of a Chapparel. Although I have a small grill that attaches on my railing for my pontoon, I don't believe I will ever use it.

These were cool. If you want to use those old skis for something other than wall art, here is an idea.

What type of boat is it?

Now that we are through with the absurd, let's get down to the real absurd.

I have to admit, I rather liked the new SR 400. Nice size and very well appointed. Looks like a good all around performer. I even liked the color combo partly due to the fact it wasn't metal flake.

MasterCrap displayed their new reverse system for their boats called DockStar. I used to love Mastercrafts growing up. Thought they were super cool. I don't care how good a wake they throw, they had to be the ugliest things at the show. The design is poor. Makes Supra look like a Maserati now. They all look like Transformers and have no soft curves or smooth lines. Just ugly!

Notice the two small rudders before the prop.

MasterCrap did have a teak swim platform option. I'm all for teak, but it seemed out of place on this style of boat now.

Still beating up on MasterCrap. It is that curve in the middle of the boat that I cannot stand. The windshields look half complete. Tower is very robotic arm looking. Even the swim platform was metallic paint.
I thought Supra designers needed to finish art school first, but these guys must not even attend.

One of the biggest surf boats available. Huge it is...wow! Not my choice of colors, but this has to throw a massive wake.

I like the Malibus. Don't know why. They look nicely appointed and the dash is super cool. Their Surf gate looks great blended into the side of the transoms.

I also liked one Tige boats that was there. It was monochromatic and looked pretty cool. Forgot to take a pic of it.

Sea Ray continued...

Through hull exhaust. It is tear shaped vs more rounded for less drag but my pic doesn't show that.

We saw the Chicago show on Friday. Saw the Malibu, Mastercraft, Nautique and Skier's Choice boats in addition to the absurd pontoon boat and yachts as well. Of course with my in-laws there as well we stopped by the Cobalt area, think we are going to get the Cobalt tower retrofitted with the power option which the Cobalt was already made ready for as they were wanting to offer this years ago however they were working out reliability issues as the mechanism was not lasting long enough for them which I applaud them for. Anyway, we walked out of there mainly looking at boats and spent more time getting "toys" and shoreline improvement stuff for the lake. Got a set of HO Hot Shot skis in the event my little guy expresses a desire in skiing this year or next as well. Funny story, we had him fitted for a new PFD while we were there and he wanted nothing to do with trying one on. We told him he couldn't go on the boat without one which is a standing rule we have at the lake as he is not permitted anywhere near the shore, dock or boats without it on already. Anyway, he wouldn't take it off after that as he had it in his head that he couldn't go on any of the boats at the show without it. So, my little guy was running around the show on multi-million dollar yachts even with this jacket on, zipped and buckled.

I probably won't make it to a show this year but my favorite boats in this thread (and from visiting dealers last year) are the Malibus and the Moombas.

There are several people over on theMalibuCrew website, though, that are switching to the Centurion 237 and 257 this year. The surf wave is supposed to be unbelievable on those boats and the interior is finally up to par with the other mfgs.

Thanks for the pics!

Cool story on the kid! Priceless.

Saw several pontoon companies offering automated poles to raise and lower the bimini...because taking two minutes to lower by hand is too complicated I reckon.

I agree with the other manufactures catching up. Was real impressed with some of the details I saw and the Centurion did look good. The Moomba interiors are spartan compared to the Supras sitting next door and were not comfortable at all. Some of the less expensive pontoons had more comfortable interiors than the Moomba.

But for the money you pay for a New Moomba...save a lot over the other guys.

That much HP on a pontoon- ouch. How does it hold enough gas to feed those beasts.

The offshore guys found out last year when 2-3 skaters flipped.

On the flip side, go Chris Craft. That is good looking.

The convenience of having a power lift on the tower is not so much the fact that you no longer have to deal with the complication of doing it by hand, in fact the power option adds an additional step or two. The benefits are that one person can handle the tower and the boat going into and out of a covered lift or you can lower it only so much as is needed to clear a low bridge like we have to with the Cobalt where we boat. There are two low bridges that getting under allow us access to some really clean lakes with sandy bottoms without big boat traffic due to those low bridges. For us right now it is pretty much an "all or nothing" approach unless you have a person or two willing and able to hold it in an intermediate position. Those are the benefits for us in this particular application, not laziness driving it though I am sure that most people get it either because they are lazy or the salesman sells them on the idea when they will never need it.

I was referring to the automated Bimini concept, not so much your tower when I said my previous comments. I have a Bimini on the pontoon, literally less than a minute or so to drop it.
