That looks awesome. If you don't mind me asking, how much did the new interior and carpet cost you?

Thanks!

I love the new interior on your boat. I also have an 88 and really want to put in a glovembox in the dash. Where did you get the glovebox that I see in your boat? and was is hard to install?

Thanks,

Jeff

Thanks. The carpet is Aqua Turf 5810 Marble Grey. I ordered 7 yards-8ft. wide and installed it myself. The carpet cost me 28.50/yd from a local Trim shop. The interior company did an absolutely awesome job. He did everything for $2,800.00 I had to put the old upholstery back in over the new carpet so he could see it. He then pulled out all the old, made all new wood panels, and seat bases, covered them and then intalled everything. Turnkey price! I would recommend him to anyone in a heartbeat. I knew the pattern I wanted from a Malibu brochure I had. He said no problem. His wife helped me pick out the right colors. It really came out better that I though it would. :D

The box I put in for my glovebox was a drop in box from West Marine. It is made of thin white plastic and comes with the hinged cover. It was easy to put in. I cut the hole with a jigsaw. Make sure and mark twice, cut once. It helps to put 2" wide masking tape on the fiberglass first before you mark the hole with a sharpie. Then when you cut it, it won't scratch the gelcoat. Have someone run a shopvac while you are cutting to minimize the slag. You will need to remove alot of polyeurethane foam under the dash, but it will fit. Good luck.

Awesome restoration! You should be proud! If you get a chance, post a few pictures of the outside of your boat.

What did you do to the floor? Or did the upholstry guy do that too? I too have an 88 Comp and jsut can't part with it. We have one soft spot and been considering replacing the floor, but cheapest i found was right at $7,000 to do it.

I replaced the floor myself. I had a fiberglass shop make me a 4x9x1/4" fiberglass sheet to replace it with. After removing the old wood flooring, i made 2 templates out of foamboard and then traced them to the new fiberglass piece and cut them out. I then glassed them in. I was fortunate and did not have any stringer rot. It is certainly a big job, but worth it.

So did you just cut around the engince compartment and behind the front seat portion and just replace from the driver/passenger to the back? Did you replace the engine compartment brackets and bottom piece when you took it all out? I had thought about that, but did not think about the fiberglass and then glassing the pieces together to smooth. I jsut do not want to have to take the hull apart (will not take the hull apart) but would like to not have to worry about it anymore. Great boat, just want to make sure i don't fall through the little hole this summer.

I was wondering if you replaced your drivers platic molded foot plate? I have a 1990 conbrio and the plastic is all cracked. I am trying to replace but can not find one. Any ideas? Nice boat. looks great

When I replaced the floor, etc, I did not have to replace my recessed drivers floor plate. It was in great shape.

Kingwoodlee I noticed you posted sky ski rack. What kind of set-up are you riding??

I ride a Ski Ski Pro-2007 model with Rock Tower. I installed a Next Level Designs Hydrofoil Rack on the Passenger side of my New Dimension tower. It holds solid, and has been a gread addition to the boat. We never take the Sky Ski apart now. We trailer it in the rack from storage to the river without any problem.

I have the Comptech pivoting racks both sides on mine they work great too. Kind of expensive around $800 each but keeps everyone in the boat safer. Who do you foil with?

Holy crap. That's the best interior job I have ever seen. Amazing. Those late 80's comps are some of the sleakest looking boats ever made...

I want that boat!

Can you post pics of the exterior?

If my son would quit skiing every other day, maybe I could snap a few pictures of the exterior and post them!

Looks great. Best interior I have ever seen in that boat. I have a navy blue 88 comp with a new fly high tower and fat sacs to go on either side of the engine. New 08 supra swoosh decals and a new interior. With the 550 lb. fat sacs on either side of the engine it puts out a sick wake and is great for wake boarding. I will post some pics when I can figure out how to post them. If anyone knows how to post the pics feel free to share.

The old 88 is finally in need of a new steering assembly. I have been putting this job off all winter because I am going to have to drill out the hole that the mount goes thru from 1-1/2" to 2-7/8". The fiberglass is already weak there, but I have searched everywhere I can, and can't find the style of steering mechanism that these old boats came with. While under the dash, I decided it was time to go ahead and re-upholster the dash, so I pulled it out today. Wasn't really that bad. The wiring harness had three large connectors, and I was able to leave all the gauges and switched intact. Just pulled the two speedos out, disconnected the wiring harnesses, and pulled the dash out. I then pulled each assembly loose from the dash itself. I'll get a few pictures and post them. I hope to document this job for future comp owners. Stay tuned.

All I have to say is.... that is absolutely gorgeous what you did to your boat! One of the guys I work with has an 88 Comp TS6M and he wants to restore it. He's gotta see yours first. It will give him something to shoot for:)
