Having problems with the structure of your old Supra? Stringers rotting? Thinking of buying an older boat? Ever wonder what's under that floor? Check out my project...

Awesome job on the refurb. The boat looks great, you should be proud. That was killer documentation and pix of the refurb. Anybody ou there doing winter refurbs.- you know who to go to. Congrats on a job well done. Brian Raymond

Beautiful restoration job! You must have a ton of patiences and a lot of skill. Keep that boat dried out after each use and that wood will last a LONG time. Thank goodness the most boat manufactures have gone away from wood for what you had to endure. You have quite a boat and conversation piece!

paul,

did you seal your exhaust pipes at the transom? what did you use if so?

i'm about to lay new stringers, can't wait to take another look at your pics when i have a chance.

thanks

edit...i saw the pics of your exhaust. mine is a little different...pipes don't clamp onto anything, supertraps screw on instead. i think i'm going to go with 4200.

Yes, the exhaust pipes are sealed at the transom with red high heat silicone. You should see some pictures of that there somewhere.

4200?? Don't know what that is. Good luck. Take your time and do it right.

very nice job indeed... thats a ton of work. 4200 is 3M caulking, very common for marine use. you hear 5200 more often (similar product) in reference to a method for rebuilding and sealing the wood bottoms of older boats. Anyway just thought I'd throw that out there. Again, nice job on that boat!

What did you do with the drivers seat floor area? I have a 1990 conbrio and the molded plastic floor area is all cracked? Trying to figure out what to do.
That was a great recap of the project. Thanks

Do know what year Supra stoped using wood stringer? That looks like to much work for me. Thanks

Can someone provide a breakdown by model when the Supra stopped suing wood stringers for both the Mariah and the Sun Sport?

Also, Is there any way to tell without pulling up the floor?

Thanks

All Supras went to full fiberglass construction, floors, stringers etc. in 1992. Hope this helps, keep us posted. Brian Raymond
