Hi everyone! My Perfect Pass Wakeboard Pro system is original to the boat (2006). I have been having trouble with humidity causing the display to stop working. Apparently it is a common problem with old systems like mine. Unfortunately, the improved displays available for replacement are not compatible with my old master module. To fix everything, I have to upgrade to the new Stargazer module in addition to getting a new display. It's a pretty hefty amount to replace all of that, so I am curious what people's opinions are of sticking with PP versus going with another speed control product.

Also, PP let me know that my engine (Indmar 8.1) is compatible with drive by wire (eliminating the servo box) but requires an ECU re-flash. Has anyone done this - did you have any trouble getting the software update for the engine from your dealer?

Thanks!!

I'm not really familiar with the PP systems but is it possible to disassemble the display and clean then reseal it?

The design of it isn't actually sealed. The gauge face is of course but the rear portion behind the dash is not. It's humidity in the air that causes the problem, not splashes on the face. It's possible I could put some sillica gel in there and then go nuts with silicon. I hadn't really thought about going that route but you're right, I don't have much to loose by giving it a shot.

I got PP Wakeboard Pro (paddlewheel) before RideSteady was available. If I had to do it again I would go RideSteady without a second thought. For the same money you get a lot more features (GPS and paddlewheel, dimming display, compass, clock, air temp, various others) and what appears to be a better, more user friendly display.

Did sealing it up do the trick?
