The last thing to do to the 84 Comp is the trailer. It pulls great but is butt ugly so here we go.

Here is the before.

I tore the trailer down in my basement plenty of room and much warmer. I started with a thorough cleaning and sanding. Then because it is galvanized it required a etching acid treatment. Then a special primer then paint. It took some time but I am pretty happy so far. I went with basic Black with silver wheels. Here it is after the first coat.

Wow that is an amazing shop. The trailer looks great, good choice on the black.

More progress. Only thing left is to build a prop guard.

Looks a lot better than before. Needs a couple of old font Supra graphics along the side of the trailer. The guide poles look better than those bunks it had prior.

However, why would you waste time making a prop guard on a trailer you were selling?

Besides the fact a prop guard is totally useless so are those WV registration decals. I figured you would have taken off when you buffed and polished it all out being the perfectionist you are.

On a positive note, putting the iconic blue wave back on the sides was spot on. The only thing that could make this boat better is if it was being put in my garage at the end of the day.

Holly cow. That is one big azz garage door in the pic above. Nice!

And nice work on the trailer.

The barn is 40'x60' with a 14'x14' door. I built it tall enough so any semi truck or motor home will fit.

I have the material for the prop guard it always bothered me that it didn't have one. I didn't even see the WV registration . It has GA registration I have only owned the boat for 5 years I guess I should put on the new numbers. Just shows how well the Lake Lanier water cops do their job. If I had some hotties in bikinis maybe they would notice me?

I don't want to hurt your feelings but they would probably just notice the girls in the bikinis, unless you were wearing a bikini also and then you would justify a ticket. :)

As an update to Michael's original restoration...

I've had the boat about a year now and my ramp and this trailer set up do not get along (Former I/O trailer converted to inboard). I finally bit the bullet and decided to set it up like a proper supra trailer. Added a bow support, moved the winch tower out of the way and added guide posts up front to catch the nose. I've yet to test this at the launch yet, but i think it will work much better and allow for floating off without the nose getting hung up. Previously, there were issues with the D ring catching the bottom roller. While trying to adjust the rollers with this, i ended up scratching the gelcoat pretty good.

I'm waiting on new U bolts and brackets for the guide poles, so ignore the bent up ones from lowes on there now. Hopefully this will make loading and unloading much better, and now i can get to the gelcoat repair from my own screw up with the previous bow roller.
