Hi everyone.
Proud owner of a used SA400, absolutely love it... except for the Polk Stereo.
The audio system is a mess.
Speakers and some zones don’t work and it really doesn’t produce the sound I would have expected from this quality level of boat.
I’m considering gutting the system and starting again but the only consideration stopping me is being able to control the system from the vision system.
I’m considering the new JL Audio MM100s BE as the head unit and still would like to maintain the control from the vision system.
Does anyone know if this can be done just through the NEMA 2000 connection or does it need an interface?
I also noticed that the vision firmware has a bunch of numbers and “Polk”. Do I need to change this firmware?
I’ve come the the realisation that I might not be able to make this work and the Audio control may be seperate. I wanted to make sure I’ve exhausted all avenues first.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I found the first few lines of your comments amusing. I feel the same about my 242 as you do about your boat...love it except for the stereo and in my case, the Vision dash. Maybe they have drastically improved the Vision from the 2012 models to the 2015 models, but I went through the first summer having issues with both devices. The Polk stereo definitely was not up to Supra standards.
As far as the Vision, it had to be taken out and sent back to factory to download new firmware to correct some problems. Haven't used it since so I'm hoping it will be ok this summer but I never used it for controlling the audio. Very clunky interface. It was ok to monitor gauges or look at GPS but that was about it. Hoping to finally be able to adjust ballast timer and not have to manually fill and empty this year.

The Polk stereo was all stock and worked more or less when the transom remote wasn't shorting it out or the amps did not get too hot and keep shutting off. The biggest problem I found was that we did not have any separate zones and when you cranked it up, you still could barely hear it while surfing but everyone in the boat was holding their fingers over their ears. Also, not having bluetooth and hooking up USB was a bit annoying.

So, mine just got a gut job and I started over completely with all new. I went with a Fusion UD650 3 zone head unit and just two new remotes eliminating the one in the passenger area. We only use the one by the steering column and found it was the easiest way to control the stereo and actually in a decent place to make quick adjustments. I can't answer your question about integration as I did not focus on that aspect with my new equipment. I can see how that would be important to you but I like the display on my new remote with the larger LED screen now. I will be able to see things easier and it's not just play, pause, skip buttons. Honestly, I don't know if I will see any connectivity on my Vision in regards to the stereo now. Will know soon enough.

As far as rest of equipment, I chose all new Wetsound SYNDX6 and SYNDX4 amps and all new Wetsounds speakers. I had originally 4 six inch speakers in aluminum cans on my S-bend tower. Two were eliminated and 2 replaced with the REV8s. The interior also got 6 new REV6s with built in LEDs along with 6 Wetsound speaker rings and a RGB controller.
The old Polk 10" subwoofer (without a box) got replaced with a JL Audio 12W3 with custom box behind it. A few custom touches later and this thing rocks. It is very loud and can't wait to jam on it. I have the 2 bow speakers as a zone, 4 rear interior as second zone and the 2 towers as the third.
Now, as someone surfs, don't have to worry about causing deafness to rest of crew. Posting a few pics.

Good luck with your install. Anything will be better than the stock Polk for sure.

I feel better that I’m not alone.
Your set up looks good and I’m certain performers better than the Polk. In fact it will!
I just can’t get my head around why Supra would associate their brand with the Polk garbage.
My planned set-up...
Apart from my JL Audio head unit, I’m planning three remotes, with one for the driver.
All JL MHD amps - 1 x 900, 2 x 600, 2 x 750
I’m replacing my tower speakers (which aren’t really tower speakers) with 2 x sets of rev10
I’m gong to try and fit the new Revo8 for the 6 cabin speakers - don’t know if I’m going to have room to fit the 8.1inch grills
Replacing the Polk 10inch sub with the wet sounds 10
And finally the XXX12 sub in an enclosed box in the amp well.
Good luck with the sale

What mounting did you use for your Rev8 on the tower? Your cans are exactly the same as mine so I’m assuming same mounting point on the tower? Is there an adaptor to mount the Rev range with swivel?
Thanks

This was a tough call for me. I wanted to do the install myself and with knowing the right people, I can purchase the Wetsounds at cost. However, I have no place to store or work on this boat at my house. With time the biggest factor, pollen season starting and knowing how really slow I am to accomplish things, I had to debate whether to try myself or have it done professionally. I chose the latter after making a sweet deal with the preferred company and it turned out to be a great decision. 3 days start to finish and they had the right tools to get it done so I can't answer how they did it, but the two REV8s are mounted in the same exact location as the previous cans. It appears to have a wedge shaped spacer between can and tower.
In my haste to get it to storage before I leave for a trip out of the country in a few more days, I didn't take many good pics. I have one bad pic that I tried to enhance. This company made custom pieces on their CNC machine to cover up where the old side cans were on the tower and one of the remote locations. I won't get to hear it again till May when I get back but at least she is ready to go for the summer. I wish I had a better answer for you and pics.

Really hard to see the mount since all is black.

Old remote location now with black faceplate.

Funky Roswell design also got black faceplate. Hard to tell that wasn't original where the four bolts are.
