Hoping to get some neutral & knowledgeable feedback regarding these two boats I’m considering purchasing. With purchase price and shipping costs, both boats will be within $1000 of each other. Both have been maintained very well. We surf or just hang. Maybe pull a boarder here and there but only for fun.

2002 Supra Launch SS (DD)
650 hours
75% of upholstery recovered within two years
Two plumbed ballast (bow & stern)
Great sound system to include tower speakers.
Spider cracking around tower
About a 1.5” ding in the gel coat bow, possibly due to previous owner taking boy out.

1999 Mastercraft XStar (VD)
513 hours
Stock ballast
Teal swim platform
Stock speakers (nothing on tower)
Interior and exterior condition very good for that year boat but original upholstery.

Ready. Set. Go....thanks everyone.

Depending what you want to do with your boat I'd say get the v-drive. I outgrew my DD quickly and just upgraded to a v-drive.

The Launch is a good boat but no VDrive.
Although the seating capacity is greater in the Launch, they may be less comfortable due to the seating arrangement. It does have a wider beam as well but the motor is smack in the middle so you don’t really take advantage of that.
The Launch will probably have a much better wake than the X-star since it used the same proven hull for many years.
Again, what do you want to do with it and what does your gut say?

Remember, one is a MasterCraft.
