When I ordered my 21V I ordered the dual battery set up. It came with 2 Interstate 24M-XHD batteries. Since I run my amp to my stereo off my second battery I wanted to replace it with a deep cycle. I'm looking at either a Interstate SRM-27B or a Optima 34M.

When I'm just sitting floating without the engine not running and listening to the stereo with the amp on at higher volumes the current 24M-XHD battery will dip below the 10 volt output that the amp requires and the amp will clip.

Will replacing this starting battery with a deep cycle help eliminate this problem?

Does anyone see any problems or have suggestions or opinions?

Thanks

do you have a battery switch?

the deep cycle will be better but if you're not running enough to re-charge then it will do the same eventually. also, if your alternator is monitoring the starting battery to sense whether or not it needs a charge, then your stereo battery is getting short changed.
