So I don't hijack the thread about someone's bad TPS or bad gas or whatever, I just wanted to respond to DKJ's rant about efi - having recently replaced my '89 351 with a 2001 351 gt-40 efi, I do enjoy the advantages of cold starts, idling perfectly all the time (I do a lot of boating in cold weather / cold water) but I gotta agree that when something goes wrong I'm kinda SOL if you know what I mean. Fortunately I haven't had any electronic issues yet, but I'm just waiting. I read the troubleshooting guide in the GT-40 efi manual, and every other solution starts with 'hook up the CDS...' ooohhh boy. There's a lot to be said for simple things that work. Like direct drive boats, and carburetors, and standard transmissions on cars. I love the performance but dread the maintenance beyond what's routine... just my 2 cents
