To those who have rebuilt their comps - or just replaced the rub rail - what kind did you use (brand and model/type)? I am a manager of a marina and we want to replace the rub rail on an '89 ts6m and I just wondered what the closest to OEM would be?

Thanks!

www.tacomarine.com is the manu. but you'll need to buy from a retailer such as iboats.

the taco site shows all the different shapes along with dimensions.

Any idea which one is the best fit? Obviously, I can measure the boat itself, but a lot of times it's not obvious from measuring the boat which one is the exact right one...

A Supra dealer can order the original rub rail for you. I have one for mine, just need to install it.

how much was it from the dealer?

riveredge...i took measurements of mine and compared those and the shapes to what taco showed on their site. they usually come in 50' rolls though you can get 70' on special order.

As far as I can tell, it's Taco part # V216978 BKA20D (the V216978 is Taco and the rest may be from the catalog I have it in) - that's the backing, then you need the insert, V124144 (BKA50) - this is for a 50' roll. The other piece comes in 20' lengths so you need 3 for a 19' boat. Kind of annoying if you ask me but whatever.
Total prices: 3 x 58.69 plus 1 x 110.30 = $286.37 total. Can anyone confirm those part numbers from a receipt or anything?

iboats.com can special order 70' so you don't have all the extra seams. mine's not a comp, different rail i'm pretty sure. i think once you're done, even if it isn't the exact match to the old one, it will look good and no one will know it's not identical.
