Supra Comp TS6M??

Hey I have had a 88' Supra Comp TS6M since 1988 and I am wanting to try to wake surf behind it and I am wondering if it is even possible to. If it is possible what do you guys recommend to put in the boat to get it able to wake surf.

Unless you really have a strong dislike for your boat, I would not even think about surfing it. The boat was made to minimize the wake, not create a wave. Sell it and then go find a better platform if surfing is what you want to do.

I have a ‘87 and I put a tower on if for the kiddies, as some like to board and others ski. It lets them board fine, but not much of a wake for jumps, ��. There is no way to create the wake needed for anything more than getting up and having some fun. Although my oldest girl can wake surf behind it at 12 mph. No tricks just but she is ��

With my old 99 outback we filled the rear ballast tanks....prob about 400 lbs then stuck as many people on the side you were surfing another 3-600 lbs and it was no problem. That was without today’s suck gates that may even make it better.

Are you sure you want to surf behind it? I’m thinking it might be better to just surf the Comp behind a surf boat.

I have a 1989 Supra TS6M ski boat now that we use for wakesurfing. My set up is a waketower,full tank of gas ,800lbs freemotion ballast bag on passenger side toward the stern a wake creator on the opposite side and my cavitation plate up 1/4".Decent push boat does sit low in water but never had issues with swamping the boat. Here's a picture of the wave size I found in my phone not the best pictures one without a rope on my surfboard and one with on my wakesurf board with rope.I should have better pics I need to find.Mine you my buddies and I are no spring chickens close to 60 years old and we go out it every Sunday unless their are Florida east coast wave to surf that weekend ATTACH=CONFIG]19381[/ATTACH]1938219383

Never had a issue with my 89 Comp works decent if set up right.But It's definitely not a 2021 Moomba Makai wake surf boat wave!

Yes it can be done with 1100lbs of ballast and a wave creator but It's not a $150,000 wave like the new Supra but still fun

Oh goodness, a Comp with 1100 lbs still weighs less than my ‘83 Rider and I would never surf the Rider.
The weight capacity sticker on a Comp is 6 persons or 835 pounds. One good wave over the bow and this boat is going down. I just don’t get this fascination with surfing a Comp. Not my boat however so not my worry.


Where is the wave? Cannot see anything in those pics.

Bless your heart, my thoughts were the same but didn’t want to say it. Why risk tearing up a good transmission for a minimal wave?

But water weight is less than lead weight right? Clearly 1,100 pounds of water weighs less than 835 pounds of non water items.

Even if a towboat is sold as a "crossover boat", what does it really do well?

Boat makers try, but a skiier or surfer would typically say blah.

Numerous Supras and other types have them installed and they have very good reviews!

You only need a thruster if you have a big heavy barge type boat that can't get out of its own way on its own. You can also hire a tugboat or two to help you dock.
