Advise needed: We ran through shallow water and assume that dirt and rocks came in the intake. The motor began running hot and bogged down while accelerating. What should we do to fix this problem??? Thanks!

First I would check the intake and make sure there is nothing in it. ( I'm sure you have already done this) Then take the impeller out of the water pump check the fins replace while out if it has been a while since you changed. I replace mine every year anyway.

Welcome to the community Steve,

What year is the boat? How shallow was the water?

I'd check the engine oil cooler, transmission oil cooler, sea strainer, and the thermostat housing. Go ahead and replace the impeller, it's cheap insurance.

All it takes is a single leaf in the transmission cooler to drop the flow 75%.
