I have a 1986 Sun Sport. The gas tank is leaking and I want to replace it. Any tips on where to get one that fits and on doing the installation myself?

I have one out of a comp. Can you measure yours?

8 inches high; 16 inches wide; 68 inches long. There is some tolerance for a slightly higher or wider, but not longer. The fudge factor on the H and W is about an inch or two.

Can you shoot a photo? What would you want for it?

The Comp gas tank is 21 gallons versus the Sunsport which is 37 gallons. The original tank is aluminum. Can you not have someone weld the leak?

Not trying to kill a sell for Hunter, but that is a much smaller tank and these motors are usually gas hungry. Just curious.

With you on the capacity difference. Unless they can replace a good portion of the bottom of the tank, repair may be out of the question. I was looking for a new one (non aluminum) but could not find one that would come close to fitting. I thought Hunter's tank might get me back on the lake and buy me time to find something else. I am open to suggestions.:)

I gotcha. Just wondered if you were aware of the size difference. I would do the same to get some lake time in.
