I realize it's a wakeboard boat but do like to slalom once in awhile. I am assuming 35-36 mph, wakeplate down, and minimum weight will help but any tips on rope length or other tips for a good set up? TIA

Anything you do with that boat will be survival sking . Your best bet is to get a comp or a friend with a comp.

Yeah, my FIL has a Centurion Elite that would be much better. My wife loved the boat and I loved the big block power so we got what we got. Maybe I will just go back to barefooting. Its plenty fast for that and the wake doesn't matter.

What does 32-35mph look like behind your 24SSV?

Will never attempt? Shaun Murray slalomed behind his G-Whiz...

If all you are looking to do is swerve back and forth free skiing without attempting any course runs I don’t see why you can’t do it. It might not be enjoyable but so what.

I'm giving it a try tomorrow and will report back. Looking to be able to throw a wall of water without getting killed crossing the wake to do it again on the other side. I know it's not a course boat, just trying to get a manageable wake.

From the wake out to the turn and back to the wake you might be alright. I would go full length on the rope because you will probably have to decrease your angle of cut as you approach the wake to cross, then accelerate again once on the other side of the wake. Rinse, lather, repeat.

Finally found my go to set up behind the 24 SSV. 65' rope at 34-35 mph with wake plate at 25-35% and light load in the boat. There is a wake but at that length and speed you hit one side and skip over the other. Allows you to cut as hard as you dare without getting beat up crossing the wake. Really fun making great slalom runs again as a gray haired "former athlete"

My wakeboard falls hurt at 22 mph. 34-35 mph would leave me pretty sore the next day.

I usually slide out of a hard cut on the slalom so the falls only hurt my ego. It's the 42mph barefoot falls that remind me just how old I am.

9/15/24 Update: 10-15% wake plate, 28 off= 47ft rope, 35-36 mph. I also removed the bags, anchor, run 10gal of fuel or less, and try to find a lightwright driver and spotter :) . Still a bump in the middle but manageable and only one of them. It's not a tourney boat but I'm ripping accross the wake at high speeds without getting knocked off my line. Between the new boat setup, losing 30 lbs, and new Radar Senate Lithium ski I'm skiing the best of my life at 53.
