Ballast resistor need or don’t need?

So my ballast is not supplying 12v out to the coil. It’s only 6 v i have a electronic ignition. Do i need to run it? If i do is there a certain type . I heard there is different ohms. Thanks

It depends on what brand of electronic ignition you have . You will have to contact the manufacture to get the install instructions.

I have a Mallory distributor with a blue streak coil

You will have to check with Mallory on installation instructions. I like the DUI ignition system I have it on 3 of my 351w boats all run great.
