Resetting hour meter

I’m doing a full rebuild on my 06 this winter, rebuilding engine trans and v drive as it’s coming up on 2,000 hours. Is it possible to reset the hour meter? If I got a new tach would it be at zero? I’m aware they can plug in to the engine computer and pull up the hours. I’d just like to start at zero so I can track it for regular maintenance.
