1990 Supra Comp ts6m whining noise

Good morning all,

I have recently purchased a 1990 Supra Comp ts6m, there is a loud whining noise coming from what I believe to be a velvet drive transmission during acceleration, according to my boat mechanic this is the natural noise a velvet drive transmission generates. I'm not familiar with this transmission please can you offer me some guidance?

It pretty much sounds like it has a super charger on it
