87 Saltare -- On the very bottom set of swim deck bolts a couple of them have pulled out and won't tighten or thread into anything. Does anyone know what these are biting (or in my case, not biting) into? Are there nuts on the backside? Should I just try to thread in some oversized stainless bolts?

Thanks!

This is a 87 pirata but should help you out. Look below the speedo isolators.

eww, not fun. those are mostly below deck and really should have some serious backing plates to spread the load. mine had already been worked on once before. someone cut holes in the floor and used iron backing plates, nice and rusty. you have long screws in there now? the nuts probably fell or rusted off.

I'll have to pull apart my ski locker (haha... it's now full of amps and crossovers) and I may be able to access the backing plates from behind the gas tank. I recall there being enough room to get a box wrench back there..... let's hope that's all it takes.
