Hi Guys,

Hope everyone is well. Haven't posted on here in some time. I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions; I am looking to swap out the flat mirror in my '85 Comp with a convex one either in the existing mount or mounted to the windshield frame.

Questions:
1. Has anyone had luck switch the center mount mirror to a convex unit while retaining the existing brackets?
2. Has anyone had luck with finding a mirror that can mount to the windshield frame of a Comp but be able to adjust so it faces the correct angle? Most mounts seem to only be able to adjust up and down.

Any other options would be appreciated!

I don't like the dash mounted mirror it blocks my view to the front and passengers get in the way of the rear view. I like the CIPA 02000 COMP Universal 7" x 14" Marine Mirror, Black up on top of the windshield . Works perfect and its only $46 on Amazon.

On conbrio the center windshield opens but this would work even on comp.
Far prefer this to previous comp I had with dash mounted mirror

Great suggestions. With the CIPA mirror, is there enough range to angle the mirror from the base? The comp window is pretty steeply raked and angled forward.

Mine is a 92 with the rounded windshield works fine on it . You will just have to try it on yours.

Great to hear! Will have to order one on Amazon and check it out.

On a similar topic, does anyone have suggestions for Bimini tops for Comp's?

I went with a cheap aftermarket bimini from iboat I think it was about 100.00. I wanted it to be high enough so we could walk under it. It has worked well for 4 plus years with the exception of the fabric faded so my wife made a new cover out of sunbrella. I am building a 67 Correct Craft Mustang I will do the same thing on it.

Is that your depth finder off to the left of the gauges next to OB seat?

What kind of brackets hold that stock mirror in place?

Bracket(s) are part of the overall mirror . Not separate piece(s)
U shaped with tightening screw that allows one to place U shaped bracket(s) over windshield frame and
Then simply tighten down with built in thumb screw.
Easy peasy!

The PTM Edge mirror is much better than the CIPA mirror. It may be more expensive but has a much better clamping bracket which folds down and cover can go right on. I switched my CIPA out on my 242 when the bracket busted. You had to constantly tighten it down and then the bolt stripped. I haven't had to adjust my Edge bracket a once since install couple years back. It has 20" mirror that allows you to see all behind you.
