View Full Version : 1992 Supra needs engine

My 92 Sunsport engine is shot. I need a new engine or need to sell the hull which is in great shape with trailer. Mechanic says best engine is a Chevy marine but cost is over 10k. Advice?

What is wrong with the engine? I have a 351 block with new cam bearings .

I’ll save you the math, the two of you are about 8-9 hours driving one way between you depending on where in southeast Michigan you are.

There’s a Rider for sale near Knoxville, TN with a good engine and rebuilt tranny.
Everything is there with many original parts including Captain’s chair, gauges, teak swim deck. It’s an 85 model. He was asking too much for me so I walked away but the 351W looked good. Showed me a post dated video. If either of you are interested, PM me and I can give you the guy’s information.

Was sitting on a MasterCraft trailer he was willing to sell.

Mechanic says water got into the engine, so it is damaged beyond repair. How much do you want for the block?

Boat is in the Annapolis area. Hull is in good shape, has new cushions, etc. It comes with trailer, but it would have to be checked out for long road trip. Probably looking for $1,500 to cover cost of finding out it needs new motor.
