I'm the only the second owner of this boat and it's in show room condition. My wife and I have had it for over a year now and we absolutely love it.
https://forum.supraboats.com/picture.php?albumid=10&pictureid=33
I upgraded my sound system by installing all Polk Momo component speakers front and back with individual crossovers all powered by an Alpine v1200 six channel amp and matching Alpine mp3 ready head deck with three pre-outs. Everything looks completely stock. And, it sounds incredible!

This is the Pleasurecraft PTI Boss GT-40. It's a full roller engine. I also ported the heads and installed 64 cfm exhaust and 61 cfm intake valves. I upgraded my carb a little. It's a Holley 4010 750 double pumper(found the correct info) with upgraded power valves, jetting, and vacuum secondary pull-off. I'm pulling 52 mph @ 5200 rpm with a 14 X 16 1.02 cup 3-blade. The collector is stock with traps at the collector outlets rather than at the transom. It sounds soooo hot!

Post the picssssss! I bet the system sounds great! Engine mods are incredible! My 87 SS goes about 42 wot with a 13x12 3-blade with the stock 351. My carb is a bit off now it gives me some blowback when we are weighted. I'm thinking I need a re-pitched prop to raise rpms.

Irish_Jack
03-23-2009, 06:27 PM
Let me know if the pictures are not appearing... I can still view them even when I'm not logged on, so they should appear on this thread...
Also with your 351--assuming it's the pcm 351 base motor, you can bolt on the GT-40 cast Iron heads (not the GT-40"P" heads), and they will litterally bolt right on with out modification. The spark plug location and manifold bolt pattern is exactly the same. You will have to rebuild your carb and jet it up probably two jet sizes or more. It is an instant 44horse and 400+ rpm upgrade.

03-23-2009, 07:00 PM
I see them now! Wow! Beauty! Upgrade for motor sounds nice but I have so many things on my list. How much would something like that cost?

Irish_Jack
03-23-2009, 07:21 PM
You should be able to find heads for around 400 to 600 bucks. Check Ebay, forums, craig's list, etc. And make sure you get pics of the stamping on the heads. they're meatier and gt-40 heads will have the "gt" stamp on the corner of the heads and three hash lines on the opposite corners; and gt-40p heads will have four hash lines on the opposite corners. This will help identify the heads properly.

I have since installed 08' factory decals on my boat over this past fall. They were not on the boat at the time this picture was taken; but, they are the over-sized block white "Supra" midship decals that you see on the new sunsports. It was a great way to accentuate the look of my supra with out making it look dated. As soon as I can I'll take a picture of it and post it...

Hey, two weeks til' I take my boat out of heated storage!!! Yeah:D
p.s. New pictures to come...
p.p.s. one more thing--is there any kind of Supra rendezvous or reunion in the midwest???

Irish_Jack
03-29-2009, 09:02 AM
Tomorrow new pics... Yeah!!!
I was thinking of putting a new prop on my boat. The one that is the boat now is rebuilt and is about a half inch in diameter smaller now. I was thinking four blade maybe??? Or going with the exact replacement that is on there now. I don't want to lose my power or my top speed--if any thing it would be cool if I gained more speed.
Any thoughts?:?

There is a Supra/ Moomba reunion on July 25 2009 hosted by Ultimate Wake
[Chicago Sea Ray]. It will be in the fox lake area on the border of IL and WI shouldn't be too far for you.
This is the third year for this event it keeps growing every year.It would be nice to see some other older boats there other than mine. Hope to see you there. For info call Aaron at 815-385-2720.

Irish for props youd be better off calling Acme or OJ directly. They will tell you what you need for your boat based off how much weight you run. I have a 13x13 and am moving to an ACME#913 13x10.5.

Hey from the title of your thread, is your SunSport 22 feet? Dang! That is awesome. You picked a good year too!

So are you running a speed prop now? Do you just like the speed or do you slalom/barefoot? If you are wakeboarding or surfing I would think you're gonna need a different prop. My stock prop is a 13x13 you are using something totally different than me at 14x16. Cool! Any tower plans?

Irish_Jack
04-01-2009, 08:13 PM
The prop that is on there now is the stock prop (OJ 14X16 1.02cup 3RH) because of the engine and trans option the boat came with. It jumps out of the water like a drag boat with almost no lag. I do love the speed and the high torque as well. I do plan on installing a tower for sure. I don't really care what brand it is as long as it looks good on the boat as well as it functions... My wife and I mostly just wakeboard. I do tow my uncle who is an avid slolom skier. It's absolutely hilarious to go tubing behind...

I have done everything I will ever do to it. I'm interested in Newdimension Towers rad-a-cage reproduction for the early generation launches. I'm super particular with customizing... I like to keep anything I do very clean and subtle enough were it looks like it came that way or at least to be very well mannered.

87SunSportMikeyD
05-07-2009, 06:58 PM
The NewDim towers are a great look and great design, there is more headroom than the Monster. However mine needed to be folded up and down every time out and their didn't fold low enough. I don't care for the crossbars, but it makes getting board racks much cheaper because they are more common and require less parts to make.

Irish Jack, first off I wanted to say that I love your boat, the pics I'm sure don't show justice. Also, I noticed that you live in Milwaukee. I have a 99 Legacy and also live in Milwaukee area. Which lake do you usually boat on? Would love to see your boat in person if that's alright with you. Hope we can get in touch sometime during the summer.

I picked up my GT-40p head for $200. If you keep a good watch on e-bay and craiglist you can get a deal! You nay have to drill the head bolt holes out if it was on a 302 because they use smaller head bolts. Other than that it's a direct bolt on! I drilled mine out on my drill press before I got I got them rebuilt and I noticed a big jump in performance! You may want to consider a different intake also why your at it! This will give you more HP also! I went with the tried and true edelbrock rpm performer!

It's already the full montey. The block is a boss 351 block with 4-bolt mains and ford racing pistons and rods. The heads are gt40 heads. but I have considered a better intake to bring out even more power. I have the room for a trick flow under the motor cover or an edlbrock like yours. I will pass on the price to my buddy at work... he's got an 87 Comp that he's looking to do a gt-40 top end on...

Hello y'all. Got a new kick ass notebook and finally installed all my stuff. My old computer, which was from 2000, finally crashed shortly after thanksgiving. Here's the new wheel...
https://forum.supraboats.com/picture.php?albumid=17&pictureid=693
The other thing is. Before I put my boat into storage, I ran it on Michigen to dial that new carb in... I got it to run great under hard acceleration, but the engine basically runs weird as hell under normal driving conditions and I was never able to get it to settle down when holding at a wakeboarding speed. My original carb is back on there... live and learn.

The temperature being like 35 all the time and cloudy is really lame. too warm to go snowmobiling and too far away from late spring to go boating. Yah, what he said. If you haven't re-sized your pictures before and you have microsoft office, go to the file, right click on it, set your pointer onto "open with" and go over to "microsoft office picture manager". Edit the photo using "resize".

Memmer99
05-19-2010, 01:45 PM
Or just post them on photo bucket and post the image link. It's super easy and you don't have to resize at all. Plus you have a back up of all your photos online.

87SunSportMikeyD

Jack just host them somewhere else like Memmer said. Photobucket or wakeboarder.com are both great. They take care of all the compression for you. Larger files however do take a little longer to upload.

Thanks guys... I had a long and busy winter. I have been trying to balance my automotive business with my day job as a yacht tech... not easy. I had an awesome week up in eagle river in February.. And we are expecting another little snowmobiling wake boarder in first week of September. And I already had my antique boat out second week of March. Still have the Supra at my dad's house.. Things are looking a lot more even-keel now.
