i have a hummingbird depth finder. shoots thru the hull, no drilling. pretty easy install although playing with dash wiring is never really fun.
do you have a part/mod #?
Is it something like

I am installing that same one. I already have it mounted in the dash and connected. After my lake test of my shaft log repair is successful, I will be mounting the transducer.
let me know how it works if you get it in before me. Where did you mount it at? I bought a pod holder to mount somewhere on the dash but who kn ows

that's the same model i was talking about. i took the clock out of my dash and put the gauge there. you can use the clock's wiring.
the transducer needs to be in front of prop and stuff....opposite side from the water intake and not in line with the tracking fins.
(salty) can you send me some pics of it? Thanks

you can see the outline of where it used to be in this pic (starboard of the shaft log). i put it back in the same spot when i was done.

I'm doing the exact same thing. I mounted it in the dash in place of the clock and used the clock's wiring. I also plan to mount the transducer directly across from the water intake.
looks like I will have to take the fuel tank out to do this. Reason to go waste sme gas:D

although i like your plan, you should be able to reach that area from under the engine cover or by taking the middle floor panel out back there.
Man still a good reason to tell the wifey so I can just hit the water
