Just picked up an '85 Supra Sunsport Skier. Problem is the previous owner decided to chop the pylon at the floor and carpet over it.

Anyone that's put a tower on their 80's Supra want to part with the pylon?

I have no idea where else to find a pylon... any aftermarket suggestions appreciated.

I have removed my pylon and have no need for it. But if yours was chopped off at the floor I'm not sure how you would get it into your boat without removing yours first. They have four bolts under the floor. With a socket set and some wd40 they aren't too tough, but a bit awkward. Also not sure how much it would cost to ship....

Hey glad to have another older Sunsport on board here! If the pylon is not stuck you should be able to get it out like Mikey said. Don't know why someone would cut it off though. When you get around to it, share some pictures with us!

I have to wonder, when guys remove pylon were do you hook a skier up too. I know, wakeboarder to tower, tuber to hook on rear transom but skier? Too much pressure for tower, more rear boat swing from transom when cutting hard on slalom. What do you guys do?

i drop skiers off at the nearest dock...j/k

i don't have any serious skier's out with me. having someone hooked to the pylon means no sitting in the back....boooo.

those suckers are heavy, shipping would be tough.

get a tower!!

I would use tube eye hook. Unless they are a pro I would think it would be fine. I pull a skier once every few years.

It's nice to have all those options on how to hook-up, personally I will try just about anything behind my supra- even the magenta skurfer still gets some use!!

Speaking of towing anything, as a kid I was towed on a chair that we screwed to a piece of plywood!!! Worked great until you got into any kinda chop!!!!!

Would like to see some old video of that!

My Sunsport has only a center eye on the transom, not dual tow hooks like some - and I'm not sure if it's meant for towing or not. I tied the tube to it one time but it allowed the rope to "drag" in the water between the tube and boat, resulting in "limited manueverability" of the tube (meaning it's harder to dump the kids off the tube!) I prefer to tow tubes, wakeboards, and skiers from the pylon - but it does mess up your seating options...

omg you know what mine too! I guess I must've used the lifting ring on stern. LOL! I was thinking of adding rear D-rings for towing on the transom because that would allow me to use the Bakes transom pad like Michael Hunter has. Did you have the little plastic swivel/floaty for your rope when it is dragging in the water? Helps some.

Got the fasteners sprayed with WD-40. I'll hopefully get the old pylon mess sorted shortly.

Here are a few pics i've taken so far.

The boat has been in a barn for the last 4 years or so, so it's pretty rough looking right now.

Floor less pylon:

How much do you think the pylon weighs?

I would like to get a tower but I already have a Fly High pylon extension from another boat plus the tower is out of the budget at the moment.

I pull some trick skiers and the really prefer to use the center pylon. I guess I will kick them to the curb. I allow it because they buy gas so I can wakeboard more. JK

we ride all over s.e. michagian and on the maumee up by grand rapids oh. mine is out of a tsm6. i do not know if they are shorter than yours or not. i know that the freeboard in my boat is alot shorter than yours. here is a pic of the costom made one you can see by the bottom of the windshild on the pylon there are 2 pins that you pull and it brakes right there
