Today the drive shaft came loose from my transmission. I don't know if the bolts broke before or whether I hit something with the prop and that broke the bolts. I rebolted the driveshaft but my prop is damaged. Seeing as it has to be replaced what should I replace it with? It on an 84 Supra Rider. It will be used for wakeboarding mostly chaseboating some and will be loaded with ballast. I need info on RH or LH shaft diameter and rotation as well as pitch and diameter. I know that the last may very depending on your experiences but the other info I need because I am going to order it over the internet and replce it myself. Any help is appreciated.

Info should be stamped on your existing prop, but you may only be able to see it after it is removed from the shaft. It should tell you the pitch, diameter and bore size. Rotation you can tell by looking at the old one.

acme marine is very helpful if you call them. it does help to know what you have on there like csuggs said.

I just filed down the edges of the prop that were damaged and tested it this afternoon. It ran good. I would still like to get another prop though. I did find out that I have a 13x12 LH I guess that I would need a 13x11 LH then right?

Okay a 13x12 LH is a very very common and standard 3-blade prop for older boats with 1:1 trans. If you are planning on wakesurfing or wakeboarding with weight in the boat over 1000lbs you should consider the ACME#913 which is 13x10.5. I just purchased mine through Nettle Props for $360. http://www.nettleprops.com/store/p/280-Acme-913-Propeller-3-Blade-13-X-10-5-LH-1-Bore-60-Cup-.aspx

If you do not run any weight or little weight, I would say a 13x11 is a good prop. It will give you a bit more power and still keep top end speed. If you only ski or barefoot you may want to stick with a 13x12, but even so a new CNC machined prop has much greater surface area than our old cast-brass props and will hold speed much better.

If you have further questions, call Supra, call Acme or OJ, or call JT Nettle at Nettle Props. I talked to them all. :)
