I think I may answer my own question, but when I've found after I installed my amp and sound system that when I raise and lower my wake plate I get a pop from the speakers when I trim the plate. I'm thinking this might be a grounding issue from the amp???? Or...could it be coming from the where I wired in the on/off wire which is in on of the non used aux switches next to the throttle. Oh...it's a 2006 21V

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

sounds like the ground to me. i've used some of my leftover switches with no problems.

your dealer can install a relay kit to fix this problem. It is part # 600025 from Skier's Choice. It is actually called the "pop repair kit".

My new 2009 ssv 22 launch has the same issue.

Thanks for the responses. I have it grounded directly to the battery. I'm about 15 minutes away from my dealer, so I'm going to check into that filter. I just don't want to screw up my speakers and I'm afraid to use the wake plate because of it.

Thanks again!

I would also check real quick to see if the power wires for your wake plate are run near your speaker wires. This crosstalk causes lots of common interference.

Great point. Come to think about it they may be right next to each other and possibly even toouching. I'll check it out this weekend.

Thanks!

Finally fed up with my tower speakers popping with wakeplate movements, I decided to do something about it.

I picked up (2) capacitors, part #272-1044, from Radio Shack. (1) for the "up", and (1) for the "down" wakeplate movements. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103625

I then used a wire tap to connect to the blue and green wires running from the trim control under the dash. These capacitors are polarized, so be sure to find the negative side of the cap and wire it to the grounding bar located under the dash.

Speaker pop gone, and it took about 15 minutes and $5
