Anyone happen to know the GPH rating on the ballast pump on an '08 Sunsport? I was told 1200 GPH but wanted to find out if anyone has any different numbers?

Fill pump is a rule 2000 gph on my 08 sunsport

How did you come up with 2000 GPH? did you actually test it? just curious, I have yet to find any written doc's on the pump specs.

In general, Simers and Jabesco are 6-800gph, Aerators are usually 1200gph but I don't use them personally anymore. Pushing through lines takes some pressure/speed away but not that much.

Fman, Why the question? Are you thinking about putting in a higher capacity pump?

2000 GPH came directly from the dealer who was on the other line with SC at the time.

I was just calculating the fill time it would take for all my ballast sacs.

Water weighs 8.33 lbs per gallon. I have 1900 lbs of ballast which works out to be 228 gallons of water stored in all ballast sacs. At 1200 GPH this works out to be 20 gallons per minute, which would take 11.4 minutes to completely fill the entire system. At 2000 GPH it would take 6.84 minutes to fill the entire system, which seems a lot more do-able than 11.4 mins.

I know the new pump for '09, according to Supra is three times faster than the current one on my '08. I will have to time it on the lake the next time I go out. 11.4 minutes seems a little long to fill the sacs, 6.84 is much more reasonable. I know the new pump on the '09s uses an impeller driven pump, not sure how difficult it would be to install this setup on an '08.

However, there is some friction loss that develops transfering through the filter and valves which might alter these numbers a little more.

Just for confirmation on this, I got a reply back from Skiers Choice. They rate the pump at 2000 GPH, however, with all the routing on lines and valves, this creates friction loss which basically puts the pump into the 1200-1500 GPH category. They did say having the boat moving will force more water into the pump and fill faster.
