Gelcoat Thinner

I have the original gelcoat touch up [20 years old] it is very thick like tar.
Can a solvent be added to thin it out? If so what solvent should I use?
I tried a sample using acetone it seemed to work good but I don't know
if it will be OK to apply to the boat. Anyone know what the factory uses to
thin out the gelcoat?

i think most of those products have a shelf life, how old is it?

...for the cost of a new kit, provided they have the right color, i wouldn't risk it. your hull is pristine, i'd hate to see you end up with colors that aren't right or it not curing right.
