Aluminium cleaning

You guys have been extremely helpful on teak and hull cleaning. Have another one for you. Any suggestions on how to shine/clean the aluminum? My ski pole and windshield and all of the aluminum is dull and has spots on it. Wax and steel wool? Any other ideas?

meguir's wheel cleaner works awesome on aluminum. I on various aluminum parts with great results. It comes in a purple bottle.

I'll second the Meguiar's and Flitz. I especially like Flitz. Also I keep a small can of wadding compound handy for touch-up.
